It's merely the bank's president, Kerry Killinger, whom the board of Washington Mutual pushed out last week. It appears that the Washington Mutual board decided to send Mr. Killinger packing one day before the Feds decided to send the presidents and boards of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the showers. The WaMu board is staying -- just barely -- ahead of the curve.
